Janine Darwin, LMFT

Clinical Director

I am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with over 15 years of experience providing psychotherapy and counseling to the Bay Area Community. I am also an alumnus of the Marina Counseling Center, having completed my internship at the center in 2005. I have served in a variety of roles at the MCC, including administration, on the Board of Directors, and I have been the Clinical Director since 2014. I am passionate about this work and about creating community for associates working towards licensure.

I received my Master of Arts Counseling Psychology from the University of San Francisco in 2002. Prior to becoming a Psychotherapist I worked for 10 years in the corporate world.

Assistant Clinical Director

I am a heart centered, relational, somatically influenced therapist and supervisor, and believe that healing is largely and purely informed by the heart, grace, love, compassion. I also believe that the body holds a tremendous amount of wisdom, and by working with that wisdom we grow, both as therapists and in our personal lives. Much of my work is informed by my spiritual practice of over fifteen years.

My tenure at the Marina Counseling Center began in 2007. Since that time I have worked as a supervisor, trainer, and consultant, both for the Marina Counseling Center and other Counseling Centers in the Bay Area.

Program Director

I received my MA in Counseling Psychotherapy from Antioch University, Los Angeles in 2006. While there I worked with a variety of underserved populations, including adults who had developmental disabilities and dually diagnosed adolescents. While living in Angola for several years I gained invaluable insight into the struggles of others, both emotional and physical. Upon returning to the United States I worked as a therapist and executive in the world of international adoption.

I have been involved with the Marina Counseling Center since 2005, serving as the Administrative Director, a Board Member, and most recently as Program Director. When not at work I enjoy time with my wife, two teens, and three dogs.
